Even a closed sign is open on one side

the sign has kept the sugar from seeing the bigger picture
while the sugar blocked the syrup from meaningful dialog with the sign
even as the syrup ignored the pleas for some “space” from the salt
for as long as the grains of sand in the window glass could remember

“But is the open side really ‘open’ due to the blockage of the world by the window?…what if there were tinting?” Many a mental gymnastic just to get to those grains… : )
