Artis Lives Next Door

July 20, 2011

The Spoonman known as Artis, lives right next door to us all.  He can see the world from his window, through the warships that mingle with the kayaks, the sailboats and the false fiscal promises of the tourists.

This view is usually lost on the new inhabitants to Port Townsend, as they can’t see the war machine across the bay, for their shiny new PT stickers of local-ism…tend to get in the way.

View obstructionism happens to us all.  The view from here is quite lovely…the mill smells of money, the ferries float on hope, there’s also a Maritime Center, because public schools are not wooden boats.

Artis lives next door to the war machine and the public schools can’t
stay afloat.

The mill smells of hope, while obstructed views cost money and the Maritime Center likes wooden boats.

Artis lives next door to the war machine.  He can see the world from his window, the window through which most of us dare not look.
