The View from here is White Phosphorus
Quiet tourist towns usually spring forth from the Chinese ashes, that were once quiet mill and or factory towns.
Conservative Republicans are supposed to conserve things like nature, ALL life and fossil fuels…while the liberal-minded Democrats are supposed to quietly sell the masses out to Boeing and Raytheon.
In the quiet tourist town of Port Townsend, Washington, you get all of the above, plus a plethora of war supporting white folks, railing against a potential boycott of Israeli condoms and or olive paste.
The protectors of freedom hate Israeli boycotts because…the Palestinians are terrorists and the white phosphorus weapons, stored just across the bay from Port Townsend, are used to kill Palestinian children.
The weapons shipped from Naval Magazine Indian Island, are also responsible for the deaths of more sleeping women and children in their mud huts, than any Port Townsend Co-op member cares to
dwell on.
As we all know, Israeli condoms and olive paste make the world go round.
Port Townsend sheeple of the Homeland, make the world go round by doing everything that is expected of them. Which is nothing.

Rachel Corrie thanking the PT Co-op
Sporting PT stickers on your just re-licensed, California car of fuel burning freedom, does not make you a productive member of a corporate owned society. Or does it?
For the world at large that tends to stop by here…you can find a wonderful link to Port Townsend’s dirty little secret of stupidity, right here. As per usual, most of the stupid is in the comments.
For a peek at the real Port Townsend, look no further than this cartoon. Or no further than the beautiful view of Naval Magazine Indian Island.
Your CIA drone operators union, thank you for your support.

Thanks so much for this post. I’m afraid you may have nailed it *straight* on the imperial head (which is like a metric head, only made under the auspices of the U.S. of A.)
The extent of local anger (particularly as expressed by people shouting “anti-Semitism”) was a surprise to me. Oh, well. We’ll keep working for peace & justice, in Palestine and everywhere else. It might take some time.

I hear I’ve offended the wrong crowd, again. Since my awakening, I’ve been of the mind that if my words piss off the supposed liberal doers…then they must be just this far, from giving money to Norm Dicks…while marching around the block with signs, protesting his wars.
Of course my butchering of the English language upsets many a Prius driver as well.
I’m afraid many of the pretend left in PT, are just to the right of Obama. And look where that’s gotten us. If the pretend left is so offended by my words, what hope do we have of ever seeing corporate free peace and justice for the masses.
Thanks Shunra…I appreciate your comment, as well as your ability to see the bigger picture…somewhat buried in my smart ass ways.

Thank you for speaking what many want to keep silent. Once again, you move me to gasp and laugh and nod in agreement.

PT generalizations only hurt, when they’re true. Like 12 totally different coffee shops, two kitchen implement stores for the gainfully employed, the scary Boiler Room and of course, the White Phosphorous storage area, conveniently located in the fancy Obama wars, weapons storage depot…just outside Irondelay.
Generally speaking, PT would have to be much less homogeneous to keep the people away. But the Border Patrol is here and on the job…do not look for any anti-homogeny, any time soon.

I always thought of Port Townsend as kind of an active place for activists.
It seemed to be in 2008: http://www.ptleader.com/main.asp?SectionID=4&SubSectionID=4&ArticleID=22284&TM=39919.24
Today, it seems like mostly crickets are chirping: http://www.peninsuladailynews.com/article/20100824/NEWS/308249990/border-patrol-move-almost-a-certainty-no-special-permits-needed

I think being able to say you marched against Bush, or shouted at Border Patrol agents at a community meeting…got a few folks laid and or free drinks at the bar formerly known as Water Street.
Almost the millisecond Bush flew off to never cut brush again, the angry liberal activists went back to gardening, shopping and joining the PT sticker crowd of apathy.
The sound you hear, due the increased Border Patrol footprint of terror hunting agents of the Spanish speakers, not the Pashto speakers…is indeed the crickets on Indian Island.
Thanks for staying awake Alex.
