There is a Draft Beavis

Drafts come in all shapes and sizes. If the wars in Vietghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and Mexico were really about protecting your children and our right to shop and kill whomever we wanted…there would have been a Vietnam-like draft about nine years ago.
Since we know this is not the case, about 107 of you might be wondering what exactly is going on? This of course leaves approximately 300 million Homelandians the opportunity to shop, watch teevee and blame Mexico, not the corporate wars, for the Bush Depression.
For the 107 of you paying attention, you’ll probably not be surprised to hear that…corporations of the Homeland and free Europe, are not able to make billions of dollars in profit from short, decisive wars against evil doers. Long drawn out occupations against nations with vast amounts of natural resources and armies consisting of rock throwing children, are the way to go.
The Soviet Union knew this…as do we.
The nonexistent ‘draft’, actually exists in many forms. The old Vietnam era draft, is being saved for when someplace that talks differently than us, like the Wikileaks loving Iceland, decides to invade the Maine Sector of the Homeland with an overwhelming force of blond-headed nerdy guys in life rafts.
There is currently a back door draft. This draft has nothing to do with Bible clutching Teabangers and their sexual preferences and everything to do with giving you the ability, to repeatedly shop at Target with what remaining dollars you have left. In other words…those who signed up to serve their country as weekend warriors or as regular military, find themselves being frequently stop-lossed.
The most effective draft however, is the one being used in keeping idiots, idiots. Call it advertising, message force multiplying or outright propaganda…it works!
For proof of what I say is true, see Dino Rossi, Clint Didier or Sarah Palin’s breasts and thank God!, most of you will never be called upon to serve the Homeland.
Besides, the other drafts are working sooooo well already…

Excellent post.
In the Fake “War on Terror” we are supposed to believe the worst case scenario- terrorists will not stop until they kill us.
Messages of fear and intimidation to keep us in line.
We are supposed to believe in a military solution- but no draft?
Today’s political shortcut- tap various state National Guard units for ongoing deployments.
Illegal drugs can travel from anywhere on the globe to anywhere in N. America.
Ditto for terrorists.
2 undeclared wars in distant lands and the invention of the US Dept. of Homeland Security have done nothing to change this.
It is flag day.
We are very much about symbolism, ceremony, tradition and appearances- not so much about reaching for an honest understanding of public policy.

Yes indeed Alex. As our green shirted pals in PA know, they’re great at collecting a paycheck and catching the occasional Canadian delivery agent of plants that humans smoke…but not so great at catching the mass hoards of those whom would rather see us dead. Like Congress, or BP, or the torturing/experimenting psychologists of the CIA.
The Bush Depression is a direct result of the fake wars on the brown-skinned humans..everywhere. The real wars on us here at home by Wall Street, Bank of America, Congress, the Pentagon and the elite conservative media…helps keep us all broke, yet shopping too!
Somewhere in the Homeland today…flag day will give several patriots a symbolic boner of epic proportions. And therein lies the problem.
Thanks Alex

lovely song, takes me back to my last couple weeks in vietnam. after the ’68 tet offensive, went on leave to singapore, returned to base camp ‘short’ with only two weeks left in-country, got myself assigned to burning shit by my barracks so the stench would make sure the lifers would stay away from me, and played country joe’s ‘fixin’ to die’ as often and as loud as i could on my tape player.

And I think I saw that Country Joe was just in town about a week ago?
