A 9:00 Minute Dose of Reality

July 11, 2008

Just a nine minute dose. Watch it, then you and I, can go back to endlessly arguing and ridiculing Dino’s billboards in Eastern Washington. Or pondering why politicians like Norm Dicks, fight so hard for corporations like Boeing, KBR or Halliburton.

I know why Norm does it. Do you? To be fair, Norm is not the only one…most of Congress is to blame, everyone in W’s administration is to blame as our we. We’ve allowed this game to continue.

In this video, listen to the troop near the end. He sums it all up quite nicely.

I dedicate this post to the two troops who died in it. Take a look Norm. You helped kill them.

So why are we all sitting and waiting for an end to this insanity? I guess most folks figure with a new president this will all just be a bad memory in the back of our minds, much like Vietnam and other American foreign campaigns. We have tainted our name around the world and damned our children by destroying the economy through the unfunded war machine. The culture of corruption that exists at all levels in our government is a core issue. By the time anyone gets to a position of power, their fundamental beliefs and morals are eroded away by a system that supports neither. Electing some real citizens who have not been tainted and raised through the system would be a good way of starting, but the rotten core would need to be thrown out first. Sorry, I have drifted away….. The average person is far too afraid to support anyone that isn’t polished and cleansed to appear pure and natural. Government by the people and for the people no longer has any meaning. What would it take for all of us to stand up for something bigger than ourselves? What would it take for you? For me?
Everything we are now experiencing in Iraq has happened before elsewhere. And unless something changes, it will happen again.
