The “Other” Wenatchee

What follows, is taken directly from the letters to the Editor at the Wenatchee World. Nothing more really needs to be said…
Brainwashing
The most intriguing element of today’s presidential campaign is how cleverly the Democratic Party has molded public perception.
It started with the Florida presidential vote debacle in 2000. Taking advantage of the period, students learned virtually nothing about how our government is structured. A coalition of liberal Democrats and a biased media launched a hate-Bush campaign. Hiding the fact neutral panels found no viable voter fraud and the nationwide majority vote count is meaningless, and ignoring a Supreme Court ruling, the coalition incessantly insists the election was stolen. The coalition’s long-range effect has served to brainwash generations uneducated in civics.
Armed with such public lack of knowledge, the coalition has been able to conduct an eight-year hate-Bush campaign charging him for failures on issues over which only the Congress has control. Essentially, a president cannot enact policy, and even his splinter of executive authority is worthless because only Congress can fund it.
As a case in point, Congress passed the law that allowed the invasion of Iraq. It was based on the same information from British and U.S. intelligence that President Bush relied on. However, when the war turned sour, many liberals either suffered a memory lapse or used lame excuses for their vote. Now that the war has turned in our favor, they are caught in the sticky web of trying to again flip-flop or talk their way around it.
The public hears a constant beat that the Iraq war costs too much, has resulted in some 4,000 fatalities and disrupts families. But, others recall that World War II cost a higher percentage of the national treasury, resulted in more than 400,000 fatalities, and 500,000 families were disrupted.
Intriguing is whether or not fluent speech and cleverness from Mr. Obama will surpass a sober evaluation of the national problems by the voters.

Well truth is a funny thing and can be found in many places. Especially when one picks and chooses what they want to believe. Clearly George W is not totally to blame for where we are, Congress deserves some credit too. When most of us make a bad call we acknowledge it and fix what we can. As a citizen I certainly blame our leaders for not impeaching Bush, his cronies, and anyone who has continued to lead us down this path which when all added up, has damaged the United States in ways our kids will be paying for for their lives.
Only a complete moron with no sense of reality would compare WWII with Iraq. Hey Don, do you know how much a gallon of milk costs today or are you as clueless as the dried up old white men that represent our “freedom” are? The Industrial Military Complex rolls on………..
BTW, not everyone in Wenatchee is a brainwashed Republican. Some of us are still silly and look to the individual and their strengths. I am the most afraid of the individual who believes in George W now, 4 years ago, and 4 years before that. If you can seriously look in the mirror today and believe you and your family are safer today than 8 years ago, I admire you. That level of delusion usually reqires medication – where do I get some of that stuff?
