The Vigilant Lens
not as philosophical as stairs, perhaps but escalators provide movement even if no one is in the forest to see them.

i enjoy watching people at the escalators when they’re not moving/out O’ electricity etc….and there is a stairway in the middle to choose from as well. “Do we take the stairs…or use the non-moving escalator?” Sort of a social engineering test in my mind anyway…
