It’s Like Spokane Week
October 16, 2008

But in a good way!
Just did my semi-monthly check in with Spokane’s only newspaper, The Inlander. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they, (Ted) were doing a bit of a flashback issue. No you will not find any references to acid trips or Orange Julius drinking in the Skywalk….why I’m not sure.
Anyway, Sherman Alexie is mentioned, beer and that crazy new coffee trend that eventually forced me to pull over at the Rocket in Millwood….way back in the day.
Read some for yourself…..right here.

I saw them at an all-ages show at the playfair race track. No horses or racing were involved. Sorry ’bout hurting your brain. Fucking Too Slim and the Tail Draggers. I’m sure they’re still playing shows at bars between spokane and ritzville. oh yes.

No harm no foul. Brain pain is something I am accused of frequently. I’m semi convinced, portions of this pain stem from events that occurred at North Idaho College and Peabody’s, “A Party Place with Rock n Roll”.
Too Slim is indeed still rockin. Ritzville? Just seeing the word, makes me want to get a Salad Burger at Zips.

The inlander fits a market..those wanting something other than republican news. The Spokesman-inquirer routinely prints Seattle times articles a day late, but never an article about the area..they like completely missed the whole Libby thing. It’s really no surprise they laid off most of their reporters,… what’s printed is not often worth writing, and little written finds print.
So for more than fishwrap, a guy’s gotta look to the inlander. It fits better around a breakfast dish at Dolly’s, or in the old days at the Shack where a guy could get a double scotch with ham and eggs at 6 am. Some of their writers could use a stick removed, or at least acknowledge there is new things to learn even at their age, but … at least their not calling for a third Bush term.
The Spruce in Moscow is a church today, the Shack’s now an asian place, the Spar in Oly is a half assed brewpub. The only things that stay the same are the Circle T in Ritzville, and Republican arrogance. Even the Democrats don’t seem to be able to fritter this one away, yet.

Oh man, don’t get me started on the Democrats.
A double scotch, with pork and eggs….0600hrs,
Spokesman-inquirer and the half assed brew pub that
was the Spar!
You know I’m stealing all of these, yes?
Thanks for the fine words on Spokane and beyond.
